When the story of this class is written, it opens with Paris Shand at the 223rd overall pick, a reach of 68 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.

On value alone, Carter makes the weekend a net positive. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

Bottom line, with Ashton Jeanty leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
Ashton Jeanty is a better player than the 13th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Luther Burden III · WR · rank 20
Circle this one: Luther Burden III at No. 44 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 25
They robbed the room for Jalon Walker here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Andrew Mukuba · S · rank 72
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Andrew Mukuba. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R4.5 · Pick 106 · Jermari Harris · CB · rank 90
They let Jermari Harris come to them and pounced at slot 106. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.8 · Pick 146 · Barrett Carter · LB · rank 83
Barrett Carter in pick 146 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R6.8 · Pick 183 · Connor Colby · OG · rank 169
Connor Colby slipping to No. 183 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Kaden Prather · WR · rank 229
A reach on Kaden Prather in the 212th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.2 · Pick 216 · Xavier Truss · OT · rank 261
They left a pile of value on the table to take Xavier Truss this early at the 216th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.9 · Pick 223 · Paris Shand · DE · rank 291
They reached a country mile for Paris Shand at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
