The phones were a trap the Raiders kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The math is unkind, and the D+ follows.
Getting Green where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
The Raiders clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 17 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 25th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Bo Nix in No. 44 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Cooper Beebe at pick 75 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Max Melton at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Darius Robinson slipping to Round 4, Pick 29 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Javon Foster at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Jaylen Wright in the 202nd pick, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They barely believed it either: Renardo Green still on the board at pick 204. A minor need, but a need all the same.
No edge and no loss on Austin Stogner in the 210th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land De'Corian Clark in No. 221, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: Tarheeb Still at slot 225 is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. at Round 7, Pick 7 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
