Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Raiders were there to profit. Anthony Gould, the No. 142 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 229.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Henderson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
They took T.J. Tampa at par in the 44th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Patrick Paul at No. 73 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Jaylen Wright in pick 77, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They jumped the gun on Tyler Davis, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a linebacker like James Williams reach pick No. 148 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They left a pile of value on the table to take LaDarius Henderson this early at the 223rd pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Anthony Gould was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 9, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
