The war room fell hard for Spencer Rattler, and it showed at pick 75: 42 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Adding Jaylon Johnson by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at pick 44, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Spencer Rattler this early at slot 75. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Michael Hall Jr. went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 13. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Isaac Guerendo at the 118th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Luke McCaffrey in No. 148, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They jumped the gun on Delmar Glaze, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Jaylan Ford at the 208th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Trevin Wallace in slot 223 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They went early on Josh Proctor in pick 229, and the value did not follow. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No edge and no loss on Dominique Hampton in the Round 7 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
