This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Billy Bowman Jr., the No. 116 name on the board, stolen at the Round 6 slot. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Every board in the league had Monheim lower, and that gap is the story. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Booker in slot 37 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid sticker price for Omarr Norman-Lott in the 68th overall pick, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jonah Monheim at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value said wait; Nazir Stackhouse in pick 144 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Billy Bowman Jr. at Round 6, Pick 4 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Cobee Bryant at No. 214 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
DJ Giddens in the 218th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A slide stopped in the 224th overall pick, with Carson Vinson worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
