When a board-topper like Wyatt Milum slides to pick No. 216, you do not overthink it, and the Raiders did not. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Ashton Jeanty in Round 2, Pick 5, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Cam Ward all the way to the 68th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Taking Nick Emmanwori in No. 73 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They will replay Walter Nolen at the 104th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tre Harris in slot 139 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jalon Walker at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Circle this one: Jahdae Barron at pick No. 212 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Wyatt Milum still on the board at the Round 7 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Dylan Fairchild at slot 221 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
