Whoever sat across the table from the Raiders should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Roberts value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
If Ford pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Adding Justin Fields by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Troy Fautanu at slot 43 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kiran Amegadjie is a better player than the Round 4 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A conviction pick on Jaylan Ford at the 148th pick that the board grades a round light. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Tahj Brooks at the 189th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Willie Roberts still on the board at Round 7, Pick 12. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
