The Texans clearly saw something nobody else did in Jawhar Jordan, taking him 40 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. A mixed bag that lands at C+.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Amegadjie value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Job largely done: running back settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 29 they get a rangy last line of defense at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
No edge and no loss on Jermaine Burton in pick 44; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A premium they did not need to pay, T'Vondre Sweat a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kiran Amegadjie in the 71st overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Justin Eboigbe well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Ben Sinnott in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jaylin Simpson in slot 157 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jawhar Jordan in Round 5, Pick 26 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
