Somebody took the Cardinals to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
Ford has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. With quarterback, tight end and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Marvin Harrison Jr. at the 2nd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
In pick 21 they get a double-digit-sack hope. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A quiet steal in slot 34: Taliese Fuaga for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They let Denzel Burke come to them and pounced at the 66th pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Blake Corum in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Ja'Lynn Polk was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 22, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Christian Haynes at No. 102 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Jason Marshall Jr. while clear needs at quarterback, tight end and other spots sat open.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaylan Ford this early at the 169th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
