Nobody had Dylan Fairchild this high, and it is not close. The Raiders reached 72 spots to get him at the 205th overall pick. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
Quinn Ewers gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting Styles where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get their guy under center for the next decade, outstanding value to boot.
Walter Nolen at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No drama and no debate, Josh Simmons went about where he belonged in the 62nd pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A premium they did not need to pay, Quincy Riley a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Trevor Etienne at slot 94 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Jack Kiser at pick No. 109 when waiting would have done the job. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They let Sonny Styles come to them and pounced at the 141st overall pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A straight-up fair deal on Steve Linton at slot 173, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dylan Fairchild well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
