The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Raiders reached some 25 spots for Myles Murphy, and value like that does not grow back. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.
The Schrader value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
If Quinyon Mitchell and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jordan Morgan in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Devontez Walker at pick No. 77 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on DeWayne Carter. It fills a real need, too.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nathan Thomas at the 208th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Myles Murphy at slot 223 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They let Cody Schrader come to them and pounced at slot 229. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
