Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders landed square in the muddy middle: C+.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Raiders reached some 25 spots for Myles Murphy, and value like that does not grow back. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.

The Schrader value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

If Quinyon Mitchell and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 16
In No. 13 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 34
Jordan Morgan in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Devontez Walker · WR · rank 86
Devontez Walker at pick No. 77 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · DeWayne Carter · DT · rank 110
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on DeWayne Carter. It fills a real need, too.
R6.33 · Pick 208 · Nathan Thomas · OT · rank 197
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nathan Thomas at the 208th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Myles Murphy · DL · rank 248
Myles Murphy at slot 223 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.9 · Pick 229 · Cody Schrader · RB · rank 213
They let Cody Schrader come to them and pounced at slot 229. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
