The trade table was a mismatch, and the Eagles were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Every board in the league had Thomas lower, and that gap is the story.
They banked enough surplus on Rakestraw Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Eagles clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

In the 23rd overall pick they get a building block for the line at fair value.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at No. 50 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Brandon Dorlus at par in slot 54, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They let Johnny Wilson come to them and pounced at pick 85. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good price on Spencer Rattler in the 97th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.

They paid a round early for Xavier Thomas in the 243rd overall pick, more than the board wanted. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
