The rest of the league will want that one back. JD Bertrand tumbling to the Raiders in No. 234 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope. The biggest hole, addressed.
Byron Murphy II in Round 2, Pick 12 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Christian Haynes in pick No. 77 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Khyree Jackson at slot 112 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
James Williams slid further than he should have, and pick 150 is lovely value for the safety. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No edge and no loss on Jaylan Ford in No. 190; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Somehow JD Bertrand was still sitting there in the 234th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
