The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Raiders reached some 30 spots for Kimani Vidal, and value like that does not grow back. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Landing Harden that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th pick they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nothing to complain about; Kamari Lassiter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Christian Mahogany in No. 77 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Mohamed Kamara in the Round 4 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jamari Thrash at slot 148 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Curtis Jacobs in Round 6, Pick 33 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Kimani Vidal at slot 223 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They will replay Myles Harden at pick 229 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
