The Jordan Travis pick is the one that will follow the Raiders into the fall. They took him 24 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Thomas. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on JC Latham in Round 1, Pick 13; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, T'Vondre Sweat at slot 46 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Kris Abrams-Draine in the 77th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in the 112th overall pick, with Khyree Jackson worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Elijah Jones went about where he belonged in pick No. 117. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached into another round for Jordan Travis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Tahj Washington in Round 6, Pick 33 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Garret Greenfield slid further than he should have, and the 229th pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nathan Thomas at No. 249 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
