It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jack Westover in slot 220, a good 101 spots before the room expected him. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Getting Simpson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Fair-plus on Jaylen Wright, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had Cam Hart higher than the Round 4 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wild overpay on Cornelius Johnson in the 125th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Christian Jones at pick 148. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaylin Simpson in Round 6, Pick 33 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jack Westover at the 220th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
