The Raiders torched the value chart for Dayon Hayes, taking him 83 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The Martinez pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.

Pick-by-Pick
In No. 23 they get a two-high chess piece. Need was not the driver here.
Omarion Hampton at Round 2, Pick 5 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tate Ratledge in pick No. 54 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They jumped the gun on Isaiah Bond, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Maxwell Hairston at slot 87. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Charles Grant in pick 108 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Riley Leonard at No. 124 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Darius Alexander slipping to the 143rd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Bhayshul Tuten slid further than he should have, and slot 159 is lovely value for the running back. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They robbed the room for Pat Bryant here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Dorian Strong at Round 6, Pick 22 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

Damien Martinez at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Karene Reid in pick 222, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
