The Raiders clearly saw something nobody else did in Trey Moore, taking him 76 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
That Giddens pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The whole projection now runs through Shedeur Sanders; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Shedeur Sanders at the 6th pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing TreVeyon Henderson in Round 3, Pick 4. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Tory Horton at pick No. 107 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled Anthony Belton all the way to No. 182, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They read the board right and Ollie Gordon II was the payoff at slot 190. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A premium they did not need to pay, Theo Wease Jr. a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A real head-scratcher, Trey Moore in slot 218 is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quincy Riley in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
DJ Giddens at the 249th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
