The Raiders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick 212 on Tommy Mellott a full 119 spots early.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Adding Bryce Young by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 8 they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They took Kaleb Johnson at par in pick No. 39, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Circle this one: Jihaad Campbell at pick 78 is a fall that decides a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A safety of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Ricky White III at the 146th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy little value on Joshua Gray in Round 5, Pick 34, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Antonio Williams in the 183rd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Rod Moore at slot 189 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A big swing on Tommy Mellott at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Kalel Mullings at No. 223 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
