Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a C+.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Tahj Brooks tumbling to the Raiders in slot 216 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

Jalen Milroe gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They are betting Uiagalelei proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Jalen Milroe · QB · rank 50
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 23
Kenneth Grant at pick 37 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Dylan Fairchild · OG · rank 55
A tidy little value on Dylan Fairchild in pick No. 58, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Darien Porter · CB · rank 78
A conviction pick on Darien Porter at Round 3, Pick 4 that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Jihaad Campbell · LB · rank 38
Jihaad Campbell at slot 73 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.5 · Pick 106 · Malachi Moore · S · rank 71
You do not let a safety like Malachi Moore reach the 106th overall pick and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.5 · Pick 142 · Dont'e Thornton Jr. · WR · rank 168
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in No. 142 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 158
They will replay Ollie Gordon II at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Seth McLaughlin · C · rank 198
Seth McLaughlin is a better player than pick 212 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Tahj Brooks · RB · rank 111
Tahj Brooks at the 216th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.6 · Pick 222 · DJ Uiagalelei · QB · rank 256
DJ Uiagalelei in the 222nd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
