The rest of the league will want that one back. Tahj Brooks tumbling to the Raiders in slot 216 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
Jalen Milroe gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They are betting Uiagalelei proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Kenneth Grant at pick 37 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy little value on Dylan Fairchild in pick No. 58, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A conviction pick on Darien Porter at Round 3, Pick 4 that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jihaad Campbell at slot 73 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
You do not let a safety like Malachi Moore reach the 106th overall pick and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in No. 142 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay Ollie Gordon II at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Seth McLaughlin is a better player than pick 212 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
