The Raiders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 5 slot on Joe Milton III a full 52 spots early. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. That Rosengarten pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Bottom line, with Cooper DeJean leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 26 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Kingsley Suamataia in the 48th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Christian Mahogany at par in pick No. 97, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Mohamed Kamara at pick 112 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 25, where Elijah Jones graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tyrone Tracy Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Ben Sinnott went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Joe Milton III in the 148th overall pick, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
A quiet steal in slot 149: Roger Rosengarten for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 156 with a little surplus value in Luke McCaffrey. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
