When the story of this class is written, it opens with Ty'Ron Hopper at No. 116, a reach of 37 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They banked enough surplus on Bishop to cover a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 18 they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value.
Good price on Tyler Guyton in the 44th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jonathon Brooks at pick 49 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It fills a real need, too.
Brenden Rice in Round 3, Pick 13 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jordan Travis in the 113th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached a country mile for Ty'Ron Hopper at slot 116, and the board is aghast. A minor itch, scratched.
They will replay Cole Bishop at slot 147 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Erick All at the 190th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They let Jalen Green come to them and pounced at pick 221. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They went early on Maurice Smith in No. 231, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
