You build a draft on nights like this. Logan Brown had no business being available in Round 6, Pick 4, and the Raiders did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The Bassa pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kenneth Grant is a better player than No. 37 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
TreVeyon Henderson at pick 60 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Darien Porter in the 80th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jeffrey Bassa at the 108th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A minor itch, scratched.
By-the-book stuff, Kyle McCord at pick No. 125 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Logan Brown reach Round 6, Pick 4 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Somehow Jaylen Reed was still sitting there in slot 213, and they pounced on premier safety value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
