Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Raiders spent the 223rd pick on Evan Anderson, a name most had 59 spots down the list.
The Dixon pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The dealing was even money, start to finish.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Chris Braswell at the 51st pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Blake Corum at slot 77, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Spencer Rattler in pick 112, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Tommy Eichenberg in Round 5, Pick 12 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Fair-plus on Erick All, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Evan Anderson in Round 7, Pick 3 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Johnny Dixon in the 229th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
