This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jabbar Muhammad, the No. 154 name on the board, stolen at pick 192. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the McCord reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Princely Umanmielen in slot 37. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Trey Amos at No. 68 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
TreVeyon Henderson in the 73rd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
A straight-up fair deal on Donovan Jackson at pick No. 81, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached into another round for Kyle McCord, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Circle this one: Joshua Farmer at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
By-the-book stuff, Jaylen Reed at Round 6, Pick 4 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board fumbled Jabbar Muhammad all the way to Round 6, Pick 14, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Antwane Wells Jr. in No. 218 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
