Boards are made to be trusted, and the Texans shredded theirs for Jawhar Jordan. He came off 51 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That Beebe pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 31 they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick 58, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Cooper Beebe at pick No. 90 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Tyler Davis in slot 94 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Javon Foster in the 123rd pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
The board had cheaper options than James Williams at Round 4, Pick 26, and it noticed. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They took Cam Hart at par in pick 141, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They reached into another round for Jawhar Jordan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
