Call it larceny. Dominic Lovett sat on the board until No. 240, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered. Adding Darian Kinnard by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Emeka Egbuka in pick 23, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nothing to complain about; Ladd McConkey went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Cooper Beebe at par in No. 94, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Javion Cohen in slot 115 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value with a capital V on Jason Marshall Jr. in pick No. 123, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.

Jaylan Ford at the Round 6 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tre Harris at Round 7, Pick 5 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Fair-plus on Zion Nelson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Dominic Lovett was still sitting there in slot 240, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
