The Raiders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cody Simon fell into No. 212.
Shedeur Sanders is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Tre Harris in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Maxwell Hairston went about where he belonged in pick No. 74. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid a round early for Joshua Farmer in No. 109, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Circle this one: Demetrius Knight Jr. at slot 117 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
Taking Cam Skattebo in the 142nd pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Somehow Danny Stutsman was still sitting there in pick 152, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Billy Bowman Jr. in the 178th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Cody Simon at Round 6, Pick 37 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They will replay Jaylen Reed at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
