They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Quinn Ewers is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Wells Jr.. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th overall pick they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Malaki Starks in slot 45 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A slide stopped in No. 77, with Ajani Cornelius worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Jacobee Bryant still on the board at Round 4, Pick 13. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Antwane Wells Jr. at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jonathan Mendoza in pick No. 173. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reach for Seth McLaughlin in pick 205; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
