The Vikings lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.

Caleb Williams gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The Vikings indulged a want in Melton while a need in safety, running back and other spots stayed open. Reaching for Cornelius left real value on the table behind him.

That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
