You could see the war room lean forward. Theo Wease at the 234th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Stover pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 28 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 49 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Michael Hall Jr. at slot 90 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 17 with a little surplus value in Matt Goncalves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cade Stover at pick 128 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They took Javion Cohen at par in the 154th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Theo Wease in the 234th overall pick, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board fumbled Jordan Whittington all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
