You can draft well and still miss the point. The Texans did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to running back, which was the need that mattered most. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Nelson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
T'Vondre Sweat in the 58th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Marist Liufau at No. 90, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaiah Adams. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Malik Washington in slot 126 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Keith Randolph Jr. in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach on Zion Nelson in pick 239; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Trevor Keegan at Round 7, Pick 27 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
