There is a lot to like until you notice edge rusher is still a hole. The Texans never got to the one that mattered most. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Jefferson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Job largely done: running back settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in pick 59. It fills a real need, too.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cooper Beebe in the Round 3 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kris Abrams-Draine at Round 4, Pick 23 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
MarShawn Lloyd in slot 127 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board had cheaper options than Jordan Jefferson at No. 164, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Demani Richardson in pick No. 239, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A reach on Tanner McLachlan in the 248th pick; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
