Somebody took the Texans to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on Robinson to cover a lot of smaller sins.
They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
So much rides on Keon Coleman that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 23 they get a true top target at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Circle this one: Chop Robinson at the 58th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Jonathon Brooks went about where he belonged in No. 62. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Max Melton, who had no business lasting to the Round 4 slot. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tommy Eichenberg. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kitan Oladapo in slot 163 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Mark Perry in the 247th pick. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
