The Eagles did not so much draft Gabe Hall as overpay for him, 49 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Sainristil steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.6 · Pick 38 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 47
They paid up for Cooper Beebe at the Round 2 slot when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
Edgerrin Cooper in slot 50 is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R2.30 · Pick 62 · Sedrick Van Pran · C · rank 72
Sedrick Van Pran at Round 2, Pick 30 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Kris Abrams-Draine · CB · rank 81
A premium they did not need to pay, Kris Abrams-Draine a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.23 · Pick 86 · Renardo Green · S · rank 78
They let Renardo Green come to them and pounced at pick 86. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 87
By-the-book stuff, Trey Benson at the 87th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
R3.26 · Pick 89 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 75
Mike Sainristil slipping to the 89th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Jonah Elliss · DE-EDGE · rank 89
Jonah Elliss at No. 90 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 97
They took Brenden Rice at par in the 91st pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.30 · Pick 93 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 98
Christian Mahogany at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.6 · Pick 106 · Javon Foster · OT · rank 119
A conviction pick on Javon Foster at pick 106 that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Theo Johnson · TE · rank 121
They jumped the gun on Theo Johnson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Ainias Smith · WR · rank 142
They reached a country mile for Ainias Smith at Round 4, Pick 20, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Nehemiah Pritchett · CB · rank 144
Value said wait; Nehemiah Pritchett in slot 126 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.25 · Pick 161 · Mason McCormick · OT · rank 147
Mason McCormick is a better player than No. 161 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.35 · Pick 171 · Myles Cole · DE-EDGE · rank 196
A real head-scratcher, Myles Cole in pick 171 is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Gabe Hall · DL · rank 221
They talked themselves into Gabe Hall at pick No. 172, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 235
They left a pile of value on the table to take Michael Barrett this early at the 210th pick. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
