The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cardinals watched Xavier Legette slide 30 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 27th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 3 with a little surplus value in Quinyon Mitchell. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Circle this one: Xavier Legette at No. 66 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ruke Orhorhoro in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Johnny Wilson in slot 90. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Blake Fisher at pick 104 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good price on Javon Foster in pick No. 133, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
