The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jordan Whittington, pick No. 253, roughly 54 picks past where he belonged. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
The Eagles clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

T.J. Tampa at Round 2, Pick 19 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Leonard Taylor III at No. 64 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jermaine Burton is a better player than slot 72 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tyler Davis at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Fair-plus on Blake Fisher, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Junior Colson at par in the 106th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
No edge and no loss on Cole Bishop in pick 135; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They did well to land Jamon Dumas-Johnson in the 137th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
A straight-up fair deal on Luke Lachey at pick 145, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jack Nelson in pick No. 147. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They let Gabriel Murphy come to them and pounced at No. 172. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nothing to complain about; Cam Hart went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
