The rest of the league will want that one back. Tyler Shough tumbling to the Raiders in Round 6, Pick 39 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.
The Booker pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a cornerstone up front, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jalon Walker in No. 37. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Alfred Collins at Round 3, Pick 4 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board had cheaper options than Savion Williams at slot 76, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They did well to land Malachi Moore in the 108th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Jordan James at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Cobee Bryant in pick 180 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Circle this one: Ollie Gordon II at the 213th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let a quarterback like Tyler Shough reach pick 215 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Kyle Williams in No. 222 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
