The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The cost of the Eichenberg reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 8 they get the face of the franchise. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for T'Vondre Sweat in the 59th overall pick, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Khyree Jackson at No. 108 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor itch, scratched.
A reach on Tommy Eichenberg in pick No. 109; the board had better options right there. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A premium they did not need to pay, Dylan Laube a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
They paid up for LaDarius Henderson at pick 148 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Layden Robinson in Round 5, Pick 24; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
