The board owed the Raiders one, and it paid up: Javon Baker, the No. 76 name on the board, sitting there at No. 112 like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
Leary has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Olumuyiwa Fashanu in No. 14, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A slide stopped in slot 27, with JC Latham worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nice patience on MarShawn Lloyd, who had no business lasting to the 107th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Javon Baker in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Jarrian Jones all the way to pick No. 148, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Tahj Washington in Round 6, Pick 33 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Circle this one: Josh Proctor at No. 223 is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They reached a country mile for Devin Leary at pick 229, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
