The Texans treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending No. 175 on Matthew Jones a full 58 spots early. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. That Adams pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th overall pick they get a sticky cover corner, and a steal at that.
Emeka Egbuka in Round 2, Pick 22 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They let Edgerrin Cooper come to them and pounced at pick No. 71. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
TreVeyon Henderson slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the running back. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy little value on Jahdae Barron in slot 123, a step better than break-even. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Isaiah Adams reach pick 155 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Matthew Jones well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
