Boards are made to be trusted, and the Raiders shredded theirs for Renardo Green. He came off 29 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Fautanu. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Troy Fautanu at slot 44 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Payton Wilson at pick 66 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
McKinnley Jackson in Round 3, Pick 13 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Dominick Puni at pick No. 91 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A conviction pick on Jarrian Jones at the 112th pick that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Renardo Green. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
