The Javon Foster selection is the head-turner. The Texans reached 44 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The McClellan pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 23 they get juice off the edge, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jermaine Burton at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Javon Foster at the 90th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Justin Eboigbe in the 123rd overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They went early on James Williams in slot 126, and the value did not follow. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick 163 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A real head-scratcher, Matthew Jones in slot 239 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Jase McClellan slipping to pick 247 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
