Boards are made to be trusted, and the Raiders shredded theirs for Dallin Holker. He came off 37 spots early, and the room will hear about it. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
The Flournoy steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 3rd overall pick they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid sticker price for Blake Corum in Round 3, Pick 13, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A real head-scratcher, Dallin Holker in No. 113 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
A quiet steal in pick 148: Kalen King for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let a wide receiver like Cornelius Johnson reach slot 208 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Julian Pearl in the 223rd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Ryan Flournoy in No. 229 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
