There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Raiders started one anyway for Tyreak Sapp, 119 picks ahead of schedule.
The Singleton pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Will Campbell at Round 1, Pick 8, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tate Ratledge in the 39th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They robbed the room for Dylan Sampson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A big swing on Jack Bech at slot 70, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wild overpay on Kyle McCord in pick 106, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyreak Sapp this early at No. 146. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Danny Stutsman was still sitting there in the 183rd pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Rod Moore in Round 6, Pick 37 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Circle this one: Nicholas Singleton at slot 216 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
