There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Raiders started one anyway for Tyreak Sapp, 119 picks ahead of schedule.

The Singleton pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.8 · Pick 8 · Will Campbell · OT · rank 15
A straight-up fair deal on Will Campbell at Round 1, Pick 8, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 31
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tate Ratledge in the 39th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Dylan Sampson · RB · rank 43
They robbed the room for Dylan Sampson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.6 · Pick 70 · Jack Bech · WR · rank 95
A big swing on Jack Bech at slot 70, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.5 · Pick 106 · Kyle McCord · QB · rank 221
A wild overpay on Kyle McCord in pick 106, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.9 · Pick 146 · Tyreak Sapp · DE-EDGE · rank 265
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyreak Sapp this early at No. 146. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.8 · Pick 183 · Danny Stutsman · LB · rank 87
Somehow Danny Stutsman was still sitting there in the 183rd pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Rod Moore · S · rank 141
Rod Moore in Round 6, Pick 37 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 102
Circle this one: Nicholas Singleton at slot 216 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
R7.7 · Pick 223 · Miles Frazier · OG · rank 201
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Miles Frazier in pick No. 223, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
