No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Eagles.

The tape said wait; the Eagles did not. Jaylen Harrell went at No. 172, a good 35 picks before the board was ready.

Getting Jones where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 14
In pick 22 they get a disruptor off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · Ennis Rakestraw Jr. · CB · rank 35
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 65
They went early on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in slot 53, and the value did not follow. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.35 · Pick 98 · Renardo Green · S · rank 87
Renardo Green at pick No. 98 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.25 · Pick 161 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 132
Christian Jones at the 161st overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.35 · Pick 171 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 200
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Joe Milton III well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Jaylen Harrell · DE-EDGE · rank 207
A wild overpay on Jaylen Harrell in the 172nd pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Curtis Jacobs · LB · rank 197
A slide stopped in the 210th overall pick, with Curtis Jacobs worth more than the price. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
