For all the boxes ticked, the Raiders skipped the loudest one: wide receiver is exactly as bare as it was. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They are betting Jackson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Gray pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A conviction pick on Tyler Guyton at pick No. 31 that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Christian Mahogany at par in pick 77, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid up for Khyree Jackson at No. 94 when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Michael Hall Jr. at the 98th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They let Tykee Smith come to them and pounced at the 112th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A quiet steal in Round 5, Pick 14: Cedric Gray for less than the market said. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in Jaylan Ford. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Joshua Gray is a better player than slot 234 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
