You could see the war room lean forward. Jared Verse at the 108th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a security blanket over the middle. A clean fit for the roster.
Bo Nix in Round 2, Pick 10 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jared Verse in the 108th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Nelson Ceaser was the payoff at the Round 4 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kamal Hadden at pick 148. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Taking Nehemiah Pritchett in slot 160 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Braelon Allen in No. 168 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Ty'Ron Hopper at the 179th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor itch, scratched.
They let Myles Jones come to them and pounced at slot 230. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
