Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jared Wiley at slot 220 is 70 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a wrecking ball inside, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A reach for D.J. James in pick 58; a little patience would have been rewarded. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Christian Mahogany at the 90th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Sataoa Laumea in pick No. 126. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
James Williams at the 135th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A minor need, but a need all the same.
