The Cardinals' one glaring miss is quarterback, a need they left exactly as they found it. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The cost of the Cohen reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 9 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the 27th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. More want than need.
They took Xavier Legette at par in Round 2, Pick 3, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Bralen Trice at No. 38 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ruke Orhorhoro in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Johnny Wilson in slot 71, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Michael Hall Jr. at the 90th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A conviction pick on Leonard Taylor III at pick 104 that the board grades a round light. It fills a real need, too.
Dominick Puni in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had cheaper options than Javion Cohen at pick No. 133, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
